What is scentwork?
Scentwork (scent detection, nosework, scent training) is a growing dog sport that harnesses your dogs natural super power, their nose, to search and find a specific scent.
Think customs or police dogs!
Why?
The benefits of scent work for you and your dog are countless. Its amazing mental enrichment for dogs of all ages.Scent work can build your relationship with your dog. As well as their confidence to explore and engage with their environment.The act of sniffing makes our dogs happy because it releases dopamine, the feel good hormone.Roughly 15 minutes of sniffing is more tiring than an hour’s run.Suitable for all dogs, puppies, adult dogs, older dogs, nervous dogs, dogs in recovery, antisocial dogs, blind or deaf dogs.Great for high energy dogs, scent work stimulates them in a calming, constructive way.Its great for confidence building and reduces anxiety by giving them a task to complete.A great way to share mental and physical exercise with your dog and build a happy relationship.Helps increase optimism through problem solving.Fun and easy to play anywhere.
What are we searching for?
Depending on your dog and what they find most rewarding with determine what we will search for, to begin with at least.
For dogs who love to play tug or retrieve we use a CATNIP scented toy. and for dogs who are much more food orientated we use small pieces of CHEESE.
Either way the skills are the same - find the reward!

The Crafty Canine Scent work is a little different than most, you don’t need to sign up for a 6 week course or keep up to date with your homework! You can come to as many or as few as you like.Its all about fun!The workshops are open to any dog at any level with each session tailored 100% for you and your dog.Each 45 minute session is 1-2-1! Meaning you get comprehensive coaching beginning to end. You can enjoy your time with your dog 100%.This really does allow for ALL dogs. Reactive dogs aren’t just catered for, but openly welcomed!
